If you've lived in the New Baltimore area for any length of time, you already know summer isn't complete without at least a few trips to a local farmers market or flea market. Sure, you can grab tomatoes, flowers, or some new garden decor from a big-box store, but where's the fun in that?
One of my favorite things about local markets is that you never know what you're going to find. One week it's fresh Michigan strawberries. The next, it's a vintage Tigers jersey, handmade soap, local honey, or an antique sign that would look great up at the barn in St. Clair!
Whether you're looking to save a few dollars, support local businesses, or simply enjoy a Saturday morning stroll, here are some of the best farmers markets and flea markets within about 30 miles of New Baltimore.
🌽 New Baltimore Farmers Market
4.6/5.0 | 586.242.7341
When: Sundays, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (May through October)
This is the hometown favorite and one of the largest community markets in the area. Located right in downtown New Baltimore near the waterfront, it's worth the trip even if you're just looking for an excuse to grab a coffee and take a walk.
What You'll Find
Fresh produce from local farms
Homemade baked goods
Michigan honey and maple syrup
Farm-fresh eggs
Handmade crafts
Flowers and plants
Specialty food vendors
Food trucks and live entertainment on select weekends
Hidden Gems
Many first-time visitors are surprised to find handmade soaps, custom woodworking, gourmet seasonings, artisan breads, and locally made gifts alongside traditional produce vendors.
Cost Comparison
Fresh seasonal produce is often comparable to grocery store pricing and sometimes cheaper, especially when buying in-season fruits and vegetables. The real advantage is freshness—many items were harvested within a day or two of being sold.
🥕 Mount Clemens Farmers Market
4.4/5.0 | 586.493.7600
When: Saturdays, 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM
If you're an early riser, this is a great stop. The market has developed a loyal following thanks to its mix of local growers and specialty vendors. Recently, the market has moved downtown in the heart of Mt. Clemens. Get there early to score the best finds and then pop into some of the fantastic downtown boutiques or one of the city's many restaurants to grab a bite.
What You'll Find
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Plants and flowers
Homemade jams
Fresh baked goods
Seasonal Michigan products
Hidden Gems
Many shoppers come for the produce and leave with homemade salsa, specialty sauces, or unique baked treats they weren't planning on buying.

🛍️ Armada Flea & Farmers Market
3.9/5.0 | 586.784.9604
When: Sundays and Tuesdays, 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM (seasonal)
This place is legendary in Macomb County. People have been coming here for decades because every visit feels like a treasure hunt.
What You'll Find
Vintage collectibles
Antiques
Tools
Home décor
Furniture
Farm-fresh produce
Handmade goods
Estate sale finds
Hidden Gems
This is one of those places where you might find:
A 1950s Coca-Cola sign
Vintage vinyl records
Antique fishing gear
Old Detroit sports memorabilia
Cost Comparison
Prices are often significantly lower at these flea markets because you're buying directly from individual vendors. If you enjoy negotiating, even better.
🏺 Antique Haven (New Haven)
5.0/5.0 | 586.770.3276
When: The first weekend of the month (May-November)
This isn't technically a farmers market, but it deserves a spot on the list for treasure hunters.
What You'll Find

Antique furniture
Vintage collectibles
Farmhouse décor
Railroadiana
Historic memorabilia
Unique gift items
Hidden Gems
There are many finds that would cost two or three times more in specialty antique stores. Even if you aren't in the market for more antiques, strolling through their beautiful gardens is a peaceful way to start your weekend.
Why Shop Local Markets Instead of Big Box Stores?

Better Freshness
Most produce at farmers markets travels a fraction of the distance compared to grocery store produce. That means better flavor and often longer shelf life.
Support Local Families
Every dollar spent at a local market helps support local farmers, makers, and small business owners right here in our community.
More Unique Products
You won't find handcrafted cutting boards, homemade candles, local honey, custom jewelry, or vintage collectibles in aisle 14 at the supermarket.
The Treasure Hunt Factor
Let's be honest—half the fun is finding something you weren't looking for.
If you're looking for the best overall farmers market experience, start with the New Baltimore Farmers Market. If you enjoy treasure hunting, antiques, and bargain finds, Armada Flea Market should be at the top of your list.
And here's my challenge for you: give yourself $20, head to one of these markets, and see what you come home with. You might end up with fresh peaches, homemade salsa, a vintage sign, and a story to tell. That's something Amazon can't deliver. Drop your finds in a comment below!
Have a favorite farmers market or flea market that I missed? Let me know. I'm always looking for the next hidden gem around Macomb County.
