If you've lived in Macomb County long enough, these will probably make you smile.
1. Hall Road isn't measured in miles—it's measured in minutes.
"I'll be there in 15 minutes"... unless it's 5 p.m. Then all bets are off.
2. We don't say M-59. We say Hall Road.
Everyone knows exactly what you mean.
3. Lake St. Clair isn't just a lake—it's a lifestyle.
Boats, marinas, waterfront restaurants, fishing, and weekends on the water are just part of life here.
4. Summer means concerts at Dodge
Park or Freedom Hill.
Live music is practically a local tradition.
5. If someone says they're "going Up North," nobody asks where.
There's two types of people- Ones who leave first thing in the morning to beat the traffic and the ones who just know they'll be back Sunday night after sitting on I-75 with everyone else.
6. You know every possible back road to avoid Hall Road traffic.
Canal, 21 Mile, 22 Mile, Metro Parkway... we've all tried them. I still don't think they're faster- it's just an illusion since you are actually in motion.
7. You've debated which coney island is the best.
And it's, hands down, Lafayette Coney.
8. We take our boat launches seriously.
Weather reports matter because they decide the whole weekend.
9. You know that Macomb County has way more than suburbs.
We have orchards, trails, beaches, marinas, downtowns, parks, and over 30 miles of Lake St. Clair shoreline. And to think, all of those sandy beaches and beautiful marinas don't even include the Great Lakes we have at our fingertips.
10. Once you live here, it's hard to leave.
